Looks like Marden have won! The planning application to build 2000 more new homes has been rejected, and it also looks like there was some dodgy dealing between the developer and someone at MBC.
If Marden can win then why can't we win? Wealden Woods is not a done deal!
Hi Fiona. Thanks for signing up. We do have a WhatsApp group set-up already and all the members within it are opposed to the Wealden Woods project. We also have zoom meetings to discuss our plans. There's plenty going on behind the scenes :)
We have set-up the forum so that subscribers/residents can voice their opinions why the Wealden Woods project should not be built on Reed Court Farm in Chainhurst. I think this way everyone and anyone can get an idea of local reaction to it.
If you would like to help us and want to be added to the WhatsApp group please send me an email to info@welovechainhurst.co.uk . Peter - if you would like to be added please also send me an email.
If any other subscriber wishes to be added to the WhatsApp group then please email.
I agree with Fiona, we need to shift this to a WhatsApp group or similar where the membership is known.
PS FOI everything .....Ive sent some contacts to Melanie for flood data (I'm also a flood marshall for Marden - so not sure who does for Chainhurst but they will be able to link to EA)
Hi guys. I organised the March for Marden, and have messaged Melanie Woodward off her FB post regards this today. I am happy to share any intel we have gleaned over the last 18 months. We instantly actioned a committee, self funded our own mail drops, knocked on every door to sign the petition (which sadly you won't be able to do) I also facilitated the traffic survey which we had done around a year ago for technical data. My thoughts having had a look at your literature mailing and website (and I will be honest so please don't take it against me!) is that it's too emotional, lacks the technical data that you would need to fight this at a planning level. How did it get thrown out at Horsmonden? Wasn't it to do with an animal welfare group getting involved and showing video evidence of cruelty? Have you contacted that group in Horsmonden? let me know timelines, action plans etc - oh and this forum is way too public I could be the planner for fridays who has just tapped into your comms. so take it offline on whats app with a small committee (you prob already have done that) any one can DM on FB :) oh AND GOOD LUCK !
Hi, yes we definitely have to promote our campaign a lot more! Happy to help in any way I can 👍🏻
I agree Cheryl, great news indeed. One thing though, everyone was very vocal who signed up for the Marden Planning Opposition and opinions were voiced. We need more people who have subscribed to WeLoveChainhurrst to comment and voice their opinions on the forum pages. If we now promote the website and soon a Facebook page, with signs, stickers, banners etc then when they come to the website they need to see that lots of people are involved :)
A fantastic outcome for sure. great inspiration for for our campaign indeed .
