So whilst I appreciate that Reed Court Farm is not a park and needs to work as a business, there are plenty of clear reasons why it is not the right place to develop into a Free Range "Egg Factory" -
The local roads are not suitable for supporting HGV traffic safely.
The potential environmental impact on the Beult (a SSSI), local wildlife and the ancient woodlands on the farm is too severe.
Access to the local footpath network will be much worse if they get their way and divert the current footpaths that cross the site.
The local flooding that occurs every winter around Chainhurst means that their proposed access to the site will be underwater for extended periods.
On top of all that, the proposal itself has sheds and access roads in positions that take no account of their neighbours.
Its difficult to know if our efforts to oppose what they want to do will make any headway, but I am hopeful and certainly think we shouldn't just rollover and accept what is proposed. Their is a sense of David vs Goliath about the experience so far but the more Chainhurst residents get involved, the more people with skills and expertise we're finding who can help us put up a good fight!
