If Fridays' proposal gets the go ahead then articulated trucks will be travelling up and down Hunton Road delivering feed and removing chicken "waste" as well as the millions of eggs they hope to produce. I drove to Marden this morning and clocked just how many spots there are where I would potentially meet an oncoming truck in the middle of the road as the bends are too tight or narrow for the poor driver to have any other option.
This appears to be despite the multitude of signs clearly indicating the road is not built for HGVs. The "except for access" argument that the developer's planning consultant has so far responded with makes no sense to me - surely that means existing access...?
I live on Hunton road and often have to scoot to the side for a smaller sized lorry - meeting the larger HGVs will certainly impact on road safety. There is no where to go but in a ditch or down one of the many potholes. Meeting an HGV on one of the restricted areas will be a regular occurrence if this goes ahead and very dangerous for all road users - even for those that know the hazardous zones.
