WELCOME TO WELOVECHAINHURST
Fridays Ltd. want to build a massive
INDUSTRIAL SIZE CHICKEN FARM
with 192,000 chickens in Chainhurst!
Crowdfunding page - to raise money for professional, independent reports to back our objection - gofundme.com/f/WeLoveChainhurst
Just a reminder of what is proposed -
Three sheds each 250m long housing 64000 chickens each, with range areas extending from each shed fenced in with 2.5m high wire fencing.
HGVs travelling from Marden through Chainhurst on Hunton Road (to deliver feed and remove eggs and waste) to the access point where the old Hoppers Huts are.
Footpaths diverted either along the river where it floods in winter or between the fences to the other side of the farm.
Here’s Fridays’ website with their take on what’s proposed:-
So far, those that are aware have expressed concerns such as -
The impact of additional HGV’s & traffic on our rural roads while the farm is being built and once it’s operational.
The impact that three 250m long poultry sheds will have on the local environment & wildlife.
The need to divert or even temporarily close local footpaths.
The possibility of contamination to the river Beult, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), resulting from run-off of poultry “waste” in the river’s catchment area.

BEAUTIFUL • PEACEFUL • UNSPOILT • NATURE DEPENDENT
THE RIVER NEEDS PROTECTING AND WE NEED TO PROTECT IT
THERE ARE MANY PROTECTED SPECIES THAT LIVE IN AND AROUND THE RIVER BEULT THAT WILL BE LOST
We are a united group of residents from Chainhurst, and we care about the future of our habitat, and there could be some enormous changes that will affect our village and surrounding countryside. Our aim is to protect the countryside around where we live, and to make sure the road network is safe. We welcome every resident of Chainhurst, Hunton and Marden to join our group, to openly voice their views, and help us protect the habitat where we all have chosen to live.
