Hi Mia. Firstly, we do really appreciate and need your comments in this forum, thank you. We would very much welcome more views from others... Regarding Fridays Ltd., and DHA's expertise in selecting the right locations for such large-scale chicken farming proposals - they are NOT very clever at doing the job properly. They must be desperate to make more money while the demand for free-range eggs is there. They turned over £52m in 2018 (latest accounts available at Companies House) which was an increase of £2m from 2017, they don't need the extra income as far as anyone can see. Graham Fuller himself commented (at a recent face to face residents meeting) that the Covid 19 pandemic has increased the demand for free range eggs and "the company" are responding to this demand. They were turned down on one hen house in Horsmonden, now they are desperate to make Reed Court Farm their next destination for not one, but THREE, of these industrial chicken houses, and guess what will pay the consequences for this, THE ENVIRONMENT, followed by the quiet village of Chainhurst and all it's residents. Why doesn't Fridays Ltd. and DHA try to protect THE ENVIRONMENT. Why don't they change the way they do things and choose the correct location for this type of large scale industrial chicken farming. Why doesn't the authorities like Maidstone Borough Council, Tonbridge Wells Borough Council etc, help them, to find suitable locations for this type of industrial sized farming if they also feel the need to authorise it? Choosing a location which is too close to a village (unlike any of their other locations), choosing a location which has a SSSI river (River Beult) running alongside it, choosing a location which has a second river (Lesser Tiese) running alongside it, choosing a location on a floodplain, choosing a location with unsuitable access that will make the local road network dangerous for the residents that live along it and near it. Do I need to go on? This has to be stopped!

Hi Julie. Thank you for your valued comment. We do hope that our email campaigns 'outlining the reasons why' this proposed development of a Massive Chicken Farm should 'NOT' be built in the middle of residential Chainhurst, and on the banks of the River Beult SSSI, are also changing the views of some, who are 'FOR' The Fridays Chicken Farm and 200,000 chickens. We do 'SAY YES' to British Farming but... 'SAY NO' to Fridays Chicken Farm and 200,000 chickens.

It's too soon at the moment. Fridays and DHA (their planning consultants) have indicated in recent email communication that their Wealden Woods planning application to MBC is imminent, so we will contact you when the time is right to object...

Attached are pictures of a small free range farm quite local to Chainhurst taken this week. They have only 200 chickens in a sizeable area, but look at the ground and how it is just disgusting mud, probably full of nitrate and so on. There was also a distinct disgusting odour when the wind direction came our way... Fridays Ltd., propose to FARM 200,000 CHICKENS on Reed Court Farm in Chainhurst... Just think of the current beauty of the countryside being lost to CHICKEN FARMING. Look at the photos in the gallery to remind you of how beautiful the farm is visually. The public footpaths are there for everyone to enjoy the beauty of the countryside within the farmlands, IT'S THE LAW!. Think about the possible smell in summer when it is hot, and in winter when rainwater mixes it all up and runs it all off in to the River Beult. What about when it floods and the floodwater washes all the chicken excrement and nitrates etc on to the roads and footpaths and close to our houses. Is this a new health risk to us???
