Am I right in thinking that the owl box on the pylon behind the old hopper huts is in the proposed area? I know that it's used by Barn owls.

Hi, I can't say for sure, but if it is behind the hopper huts I assume it is within the proposed site. I know that my old, late, friend Walter Jones (who used to live in Platt House, Dairy Lane), was instrumental in having owl boxes put up in various locations in the area. I have recently seen Barn Owls, on my morning dog walk, and heard Little Owls and Tawny Owls in the evenings

Sadly I can confirm that the pylon with the owl box will be within one of the fenced in range areas.

We've routinely seen owls and hawks on the farm over the years we've lived next to it - the hawks use the pylons and overhead cables as perches with a great view of the open land. The areas they currently hunt will be scratched back to bare mud if the chicken farm goes ahead - certainly nothing for predators to hunt will be allowed within the fenced off areas.

That's what I thought. It's worth making a note of sightings and known breeding sights as it' good ammunition in the fight against the plans.
